Support the Do More Than Dine ‘24 fundraising campaign

The Do More Than Dine ‘24 fundraising campaign aims to raise $125,000 so we can transform at least 40 young lives through hospitality in the next 12 months. Thanks to a successful fundraising gala dinner on Thursday 18 April, which raised $104,115, we are now very close to reaching our target! Can you help us get there?

There are two key ways to support the campaign:

1. book a ticket to kyle’s ‘fundraising through fermentation’ workshop on sunday 21 july

Before 30 June

Join us for an intimate and exclusive experience on Sunday 21 July, led by renowned chef Kyle Nicol (Lilac Wine), where you'll delve into the fascinating world of fermentation. This is a unique opportunity to expand your culinary knowledge and skills whilst contributing to a meaningful cause. A member of the Scarf team will also be in attendance, along with a recent Scarf graduate. Together, they'll tell you about the Scarf program, while serving you delicious food and drinks! With only 15 tickets available, this unique class will be super personal and engaging.

All ticket proceeds will be donated directly to Scarf, and all ticket purchases made before 30 June will be counted in the Do More Than Dine ‘24 fundraising tally.

2. make a tax-deductible donation

Before 30 June

Scarf is a registered charity (Public Benevolent Institution), endorsed as a Deductible Gift Recipient under Subdivision 30-BA of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997. All donations over $2 are fully tax-deductible. Between 26-30 June, the Wetherall Family Foundation are doubling donations up to a total of $5,000.

Amongst other things, donations help us provide trauma-informed wellbeing and job-readiness support to trainees and graduates, and ensure we can continue supporting graduates into employment.

what is scarf?

Scarf is a not-for-profit social enterprise which transforms lives through hospitality. Since 2010, we’ve run hands-on hospitality training, mentoring and paid work experience programs in Melbourne restaurants. We work closely with the community sector and the hospitality industry to make employment more equitable for young people facing barriers to work.

Scarf trainees are resilient young people from asylum seeker, refugee and migrant backgrounds who have little or no work experience in Australia. Scarf creates a positive, supportive training and work environment where participants thrive and gain real world experience before moving onto jobs with new-found confidence, skills, knowledge and networks.
